About VBC

Vacation Bible Camp began in 2007 as a Vacation Bible School replacement for a large church in Charlotte, NC. The VBS team was looking over options for summer curriculum and were not excited about what was being offered by the big publishers.

One of the volunteers, AJ Swanson, had spent the majority of his college summers as a camp counselor for day programs and offered to write a curriculum for the church. Using his theatre degree training and experience captivating the attention of kids, he wrote up a silly beach-themed script that we are embarrassed to publish as part of our curriculum offerings. Regardless, VBC was officially launched.

The new curriculum was a success and AJ continued to write new VBC curriculum for that church and several others who had heard about the program. VBC was utilized in Backyard Bible Clubs, on mission trips, and in daytime and evening VBS environments.

VBC continues to be used by churches across the country.

VBC Theology

Vacation Bible Camp strives to offer curriculum that has solid, Christ-centered theology. We do our best to focus on the essential truths of Christianity and not a specific doctrine of any specific denomination.

While we do recommend certain Bible translations, all of our curriculum is versatile  enough to adjust to an individual church’s preference.

Our curriculum has been vetted by pastors across the country. If there is a concern, please contact us and let us know how we can better serve the needs of your church.

AJ Swanson received his degree in Theatre from the University of North Carolina – Charlotte and holds a Master’s degree from Southern Evangelical Seminary. He serves as a Director of Youth and Children at a church in Frisco, Texas.
